With a third and fourth osprey dancing around, over and on! the nest it has been a highly confusing and exciting day. Identifying them from our own pair in flight has been the big challenge. Speculation abounds – could one or both of them be returning Bassenthwaite juveniles from a previous year? Only a clear sight of a ring could tell us that.Or maybe they are just young nest twitchers from elsewhere doing a tour of the Border homes. Will they still be around tomorrow or gone on their way? We’ll just have to see.
