A lonely looking Mrs. sat on her perch at 10.00 this morning, but there was no sign of No-ring. The chicks were lying quietly so he must have brought a fish in earlier on. However, as the morning progressed he still did not put in an appearance. The chicks woke up and entertained themselves with some impressive bouts of wing flapping. Hungry work! Mum started looking around and eventually flew up in a wide circle calling out for her errant husband. She obviously couldn’t spot him. At last after a five hour wait he arrived – admittedly bearing a large catch.

But was he really off fishing all this time, or did yesterday’s incident perpetrate an element of tit for tat? ‘You sit on my perch – then I’ll go slow on the fish!’
