The third partner of the Lake District Osprey Project is probably the best recognised, and it is the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. It  is the only partner that is a registered charity and therefore relies on donations, memberships and legacies to fund its vital conservation work. If you are thinking about joining the RSPB do come along to the Osprey Project to join as you benefit both organisations at the same time Within the Lake District Osprey Project it is the RSPB that manages the protection of the birds and the volunteers associated with protection .We have an unseen but much appreciated force of volunteers who guard the Osprey nest while most of us are either enjoying a leisurely evening or week-end. They also protect the nest twenty-four hours a day,  seven days per week. The organisation and management of this force is provided by the RSPB. All of the volunteers become automatically RSPB volunteers with the additional benefits and protection that brings. The RSPB also provide the expertise about the bird world and keep us in touch, through the Aren’t Birds Brilliant scheme, with other Osprey sites throughout Britain. The current ‘Help Protect Birds of Prey’ campaign is very near to the hearts of the Osprey Project volunteers and staff and you can support this campaign at any of the Osprey Project sites.

Meanwhile back at the nest life goes on with the male bringing some good size fish to the nest and the female getting into arguments with the local Buzzard. At the upper viewpoint look out for the friendly Dunnock, if you are lucky it will give you a song.
