Mrs. No-ring has been sitting on egg/s for 22 days now (If we are correct with our start date, 26th April.) This means that she is over half way through. Incubation time with ospreys can take anything from 35 to 40+ days. This grid shows dates of first laid egg and date of first hatch. (Female SX 2001-2006, Mrs. No-ring 2007)

  • 2004 most closely mirrors the current dates to give us an idea when hatching may occur.
  • Interestingly though, the current scenario with the new nest is similar to those first years 2001/2 when we had to rely on the birds’ behaviour rather than technology to tell us what was happening. It’s a bit like going back to the days of pre-scan pregnancies, where predicted dates held all the nervous excitement of anticipation rather than being entirely accurate.
