As well as being beautiful and rare our ospreys have been of inestimable economic benefit to the local community here in the North Lakes since their 1^st year of breeding in 2001. For many, the only bright spot in that black Foot and Mouth year.

To set everybody’s minds at rest our birds have NOT flown back to Africa, are NOT dead, sick or injured, and have NOT separated or divorced. They are flying, fishing, mating and prospecting wild and free around the Bassenthwaite valley. (No-ring was sitting on Adam's post at 10.45 this morning.) They obviously know what they are doing even if we humans are left panting in their wake!
